Sensor Pinouts, Engine bay

Post by skid542 »

I know there are ECU pinouts but as I'm starting to get into wiring in my MAFT Pro and my ZT-2 WB O2 system I'm in need of the various sensor pinouts at the connector in the engine bay. I am wanting to do as much as the splicing/tapping I can in the engine bay rather than mess with things under the dash. This gives me a little more flexibility in routing and also will help me get better connections. I know it will add a few feet of wire to some of the sensors but if the wire is good then I don't think a few feet will make that much difference. I will also be installing shielding around my spark plug cables and maybe some of the sensor wires to help keep the signal clean.

So, that said, does anybody have diagrams or can verbally tell me which wires I need to splice/tap into?

MAF - Which wire is the voltage input back to the ECU? Are there any other wires I need to mess with on this sensor? Is there a wire that acts as the sensor ground?

MAP - Which wire is the voltage input back to the ECU? Are there any other wires I need to mess with on this sensor? I'll be using the MAFT Pro as my FCD as well, which reminds me, I should check VRG3's FCD info. I assume one of the wires is a sensor ground?

TPS - Which wire do I need to tap into?

RPM - I'll be using the RPM signal that gets sent to the TCU as that is a relatively easy connector to get to under the dash and currently isn't being used for anything. This is just a single wire that I can take directly to the MAFT Pro and the ZT-2?

I am interested in know which wires are the sensor ground because I will be running a dedicated ground cable for the sensor grounds, both the exisiting sensors and the new ones I'll be putting in.

Any input, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and one last question. I managed to knock the knock sensor connector off the end of the wire while I was de-looming the engine bay harness ( I don't know how? :(), are there any suggestions on putting one back one?

Thank you,

Lee

Hi Lee,

The factory manual diagrams I posted will have the pin locations with wire colors. Have you tried looking at that yet?

I was looking through the manuals and the PDF I had at home that I'd previously downloaded had all the pins and the colors but it didn't list what they did. It seemed to just tell me that pin 5 was white type of thing. I'll do some more double checking tonight. Assuming the colors don't change I guess and I can coorelate them to the pins at the ECU since there is a little more information.

I thought though I would ask here incase someone had this information readily available. I'm not the best electrical guy and I've never gotten into this level of wiring involving my ECU so I might be being more cautious than I need to. I just don't want to fry anything :-/.

I'll check back in the FSM's tonight and through your data today at lunch.

Well my lunch time searching has revealed the answer for the MAP - http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/s ... sensor.jpg

I'll keep looking for the other sensors.

Thanks for all the work you went through to get this information available and organized on your site Josh - Awesome!

Well I spent four hours last night reading through FSM's (it was oddly a lot of fun). The net sum is I found all the schematics I need. I'll probably post a few explicit questions about them to make sure I'm reading the schematic correctly but when I do, I'll keep the questions in this thread.

Thanks for the help, I'm starting to feel a bit more comfortable about the whole wiring issue :).

Good deal. Wiring isn't that bad, but can be a little intimidating at first.

Post up questions when have them.
