Looking at a '90 Wagon with wiring issues

I'm looking at a semi-local '90 Wagon with wiring issues. Here's what I could see today:

1. no taillights... brake lights work, bulbs "appear" good, front corner markers work, not sure about the dash lights

2. Interior (roof) light inop... cabin lt 10 amp fuse (#25 underhood) is blown, but when replaced blows immediately again, as did a 15 amp...

3. Dash door indicator shows both rear doors open when closed.

4. When not running there is a relay cycling in the drivers rear strut area.. didn't tear into it since it's not mine (yet), suspect seatbelt relay, as owner says the drivers seatbelt is inop, but I didn't check operation... doh...

5. Battery goes dead... I'm thinking something is shorted to ground in the lights, but how do all the above tie together? Are there any other relays (tailights, etc) in the rear strut area? Or could it be a problem in the harness under the driver seat? Couldn't find any other fuses blown that would relate to the taillights.


I know, not a lot to go on, but I'd really like to get this wagon, i'ts in better shape than mine, overall, but if it's got gremlins I'll end up passing. I'd download the FSM's, but I'm on dail-up (beat me about that later, okay?)....

The FSM has both the body and electrical wiring diagrams for these circuits.

MB-8 aka fuse #25 is for issues 1, 2, 3, as they're all on the same circuit. MB8 has: room, step, luggage, trailer, trunk, spot lights, radio/clock... at least for a '92.
