ej22t knock sensor?
B56.4 Knock sensor (shield)
B56.5 Knock sensor (signal)
are these two wires spliced together when they get to the knock sensor?

Re: ej22t knock sensor?
The signal wire is surrounded by the shield wire.

Re: ej22t knock sensor?
^^^^ This = only slightly helpful.
Again......Should the signal wire and the shield wire connect at all?

Re: ej22t knock sensor?
No they should not connect at all.
The shield wire on the wire coming from the ECU is grounded at the ECU. The shield wire on the wire coming from the knock sensor is grounded at the knock sensor.

Re: ej22t knock sensor?
bump for help?
Re: ej22t knock sensor?
touching is bad, as the FSM states from above. Shield wire connects to the ECU -- that's it.

Re: ej22t knock sensor?
how is touching bad?
Re: ej22t knock sensor?
The shield wire is there to provide shielding from electromagnetic interference (EMF). The voltage output on the knock sensor is very small, so any interference can affect the signal going to the ECU. If the shielding is damaged, or touches the signal wire, that will likely short the signal wire out causing problems with the knock sensor.
