A lot of CEL codes on my ej20g swap... Please help..

Post by fatgc8 »

Ok so my car has been running great since i did the swap. About once a month i would start my car and would get a cel on. I did a couple of things to try to get it to stop but what i found worked was i just pulled one of the plug wires off the coil pack until it died and then put it back on and start the car and it would clear the code and run fine. A week ago it came back on and i haven't got it to go away since. I tried putting bigger injectors in (jdm 440cc). Checked my plugs, coil pack, iac, any open vacuum lines etc and cant come up with nothing. I did a diagnostic check and it threw up a lot of codes. I'm lost as to what i should do next.

23-maf
24- air control valve or circuit
33-vehicle speed sensor
35-canister purge solenoid
44-wastegate duty solenoid
45-pressure duty solenoid

Is this an automatic car or manual car?

Its a auto car. Anyways i went down to the junkyards and picked up a inhibitor switch and installed it. Now the code reads 24,35,44. When you look these codes up they make no sense because these are codes for 84-86 Subaru models. With the green connectors plugged in the car idles fine but kills the throttle as soon as you smash the pedal. With the green connectors unplugged i just get a solid cel and the car acts like its misfiring.

44 - Wastegate control solenoid valve
35 - Purge control solenoid valve
24 - Idle air control solenoid vavle

Just the 35 seems odd (at least the JDM, EJ20G did not have a purge valve). Double check to make sure it's not 45 (Pressure sensor and Pressure exchange solenoid valve)

The ECU monitors connector B58, pin 10 for the inhibitor switch. It just tells when the trans is in neutral. It's possible something is not working with that. If you download the service manual from me, it has instructions on how to test the inhibitor switch.

I woud recommend doing that.
