Getting a bit peeved, anyone any ideas?
Right, I reset my ECU about a week or so ago after sorting all the error codes out on it and its progressively dropping power when the turbos spinning (as in its been getting worse as the weeks gone on). This as you can imagine is really p***ing me off as it seems as though every time I reset the ECU its back to full power for a while before slowly degrading. It feels as though it just isnt boosting as well as I know it can do despite being able to hear the turbo working and it can get a bit stuttery and unpredictable, especially when releasing the throttle at high revs where it can go absolutely ape and jerk the engine around quite viciously which really cant be good. The thing is that it seems to boost OK until about 3k after hearing the turbo spin up at 2kish and then after that you can feel it holding back (possibly timing being retarded). Anybody any ideas what I can do to check whats happening as this is really doing my head in to the point of wanting to get rid of it (only had it a month!).
If only I hadnt bought the bike, this would feel fast :P
Do you have the new knock sensor? Does it do this when you floor it, and is it different if you roll into it? My car used to sometimes lean out a little if I floored it, it would pull timing and have no power. Then I'd let off and roll into it and it would be fine. I put a fuel pressure gauge on and found that sometimes my FPR wouldn't raise the fuel pressure enough with the boost, and was a few psi lower at idle than it should have been.

Didnt actually replace the knock sensor, I cleaned it and it cleared the error code up (bad earth was my diagnosis).
The problem is really really irritating as it does tend to happen when I floor it more than at other times (it seems fine and smooth on part throttle but needless to say not oomphfull enough). BUT as I said (I think
), when I reset the ECU all was well and fine and full throttle seemed to give an even bigger kick up the botty but its just losing power for no apparent reason.
Took the godawful bolt on airfilter off today and played with all the vacuum hoses (most are too loose for my liking and can spin) and found that a pipe going into the resonator had been bodged back in place after some hamfistedness (fibreglass resin and a hose barb sorted that) and it now seems mildly happier but its still not right and has a tendancy not to pull above 5k in 3rd and above (yes illegal anyway but its not like I care). Oddly enough as I drove around after doing all this, it was back to boosting properly BUT then it started dropping power again.
Im pretty sure its not fuel related due to the fact it gets better when the ECU is reset.
1 more thing though, will the MAF work backwards as ive gotta do something about my airfilter arrangement, its bloody awefull and consists of the air filter and maf plugging into a small thin rectangular box that puts the filter bang next to the snorkus and the maf pipe next to the filter (just trying to give you a mental image of it
).

Then it sounds like your exhaust. Is it still stock? My car drops 3-4 psi when pulling past 5k rpm in any gear but 1st. It has no balls past 5500 rpm. This is much better now after pulling out the snorkus, but still present. You might have excessive back pressure like mine.
