91 sport, left or right turn makes rear shake...

Post by djcripsen »

Hi, I just bought a 91 legacy sport. Its my fist AWD car and I dont know much about AWD power. The only problem that Im having with this car is sometimes when I am taking a right or left hand turn, the rear of that car starts shaking mildly like the rear wheels are locked up or something, as soon as I straighten out the wheel the shaking goes away. Does anyone know what this could be?

Is it an automatic? It may be the infamous torque bind.

Have you checked the wheels themselves? Are they bolted tight, can you wiggle them back and forth if they are? It could be wheel bearings if you can. I know it is a more obvious solution, but it is always worth a check.

yes it is an automatic, it sounds like it just may be tourque bind. Hmm....Is it something that I should fix right away or can I just ride it out?

I only need the car to last me a few months, then Im going to sell it to one of my friends who wants it just for the engine.

change your tranny fluid. That's number one thing to do. Also, check your tire pressures & make sure all four tires are of the same brand.

if tranny fluid doesn't do it, you really should get all the same tires on all four wheels
