EJ22T forged internals--what to get??

Post by EurosportRally »

Hey guys,

After a few failures with the EJ20 at high boost, I have decided to build an EJ22T w/DOHC heads for my rally car. We are currently running boost in the area of 22-24 psi. and would like to build a reliable motor capable of that. What are the recommended forged internals (rods, pistons) for this motor?

I have seen Eagle Rods for a decent price, but do not know how well they will hold up. Also, any experience with CP Pistons (www.cppistons.com)?

I am running a Motec M48Pro for engine management, if that helps.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Eurosport, yeah I would only get a closed-deck EJ20 from an earlier JDM car, we have the weaker open-deck EJ20 in the WRX's here...

I would recommend you thoroughly read the stickied thread at the top of this forum "Notes on the EJ22T" Basically a guy has already done what you want to do, put EJ25 DOHC heads on his EJ22T, lower the CR a bit, and then turn up the boost. He otherwise has stock internals, which are more than durable enough with proper tuning...

Good luck!
