Injector Question

Post by SubyFusion »

So I swapped out my bad EJ22 for an EJ20 and i used the EJ22 manifold with the injectors, Is there a difference in size of injectors between the two engines? I'm thinking this may be why my gas mileages is kinda poor! can any one verify?

Thanks, Brian

I thought the stock EJ20 injectors were 440cc while the EJ22 is 370cc. If so and you're still using the EJ22 ecu, it's going to take a LONG time for it to learn and compensate.

Why would the Injectors be bigger on A smaller engine? that confuses me! I am still using the stock ecu.

The EJ20 ran higher boost, and therefore needed bigger injectors.

If you're using the EJ22t ECU, then you should use the EJ22t injectors as well.

Ok, that info does help. The injectors BSOD2600 mention are for the turbo motor.

The injectors for the non-turbo should be similar if not the same as for the non-turbo ej22

There may be a little difference, but I can't see if to be huge. There's a slight difference between the 90-91 MY's and the 92-94's, and all that it does is cause the motor to run a little rich in open loop.

Do you think because my engine was made for an impreza and those are lighter then the legacy its hard on the motor and under powered so I am getting lower mpg then i should?

What mpg are you getting? I got 25.5 on my best tank with an EJ20G swap, TD05, 520CC injectors and modded EJ20G ECU. That was mainly cruising with a few pulls. The last tank I got 19.6 MPG and that was with a LOT of fast driving and I think at one point I got up to 135mph.
