Cam swap question:

Post by logan9691 »

I was wondering if I could take the cams and valves from a set of EJ20G heads and put them in my set of '96 EJ25 heads that I have?

Thanks.

i know its a direct swap on 97-99 heads. 96 have hla's under the buckets. it should still work from what i read.
what are those heads on? if you are thinking of putting them on a 22t block w stock pistons, dont. the combustion chaimbers are bigger then the 97-99 heads and you will have a 6.9:1 comp ratio which is no good.

What about putting them on a 22T with wiesco forged pistons? My plan is to run them with wiesco forged pistons, eagle forged rods, stock 22T crank, bored out 0.020.

The stock CR is 8:1. The Wiesco pistons give you an 8.5:1 CR. So you'd go from 6.9:1 to 7.4:1. That's still not a stellar CR. I think you should pass on going that route.
