Crank Bolt Torque Spec

Post by kimokalihi »

I've been told anywhere from 75-135 ft-lbs of torque on the crank pulley bolt. I can't seem to find a legit number with anything to support it so I looked it up in my 91 Legacy Factory Service Manual and it says 69-76 ft-lbs. I'm assuming it's the same on all EJ series engines. Correct me if I'm mistaken. I just broke my torque wrench torquing that bolt to about 130lbs because someone told me that's what it's supposed to be at. My fault, I think the wrench only goes to like 115 or something.

I do mine to 120.

I believe they amended the shop info to say 100, then again to say 120.....

I have had mine set to that and had no issues.

I think if you torqued it to 90-100lb/ft. with some loctite, you'd be fine.

110 - 120 ft-lbs.

Factory manual is incorrect.

The haynes books say 70-80ftlbs for the 2.2 and 90-100ftlbs for the 2.5. The Chiltons book says 69-76ftlbs for the 2.2 and 94ftlbs for the 2.5. I usually tighten mine to 100 ftlbs.

Blue Point 1/2" impact set to #2 setting.

Yes, I'm serious. The only things I actually torque are engine internals.
