Defrost only defrosts on one line??

Post by n2x4 »

I'm having a problem with my rear defroster. For some reason, it will only defrost one of the lines. All the others don't work. Is there any way to fix this?

I've seen repairing a broke connection (where the metal tab breaks off), but I haven't found an answer to fixing strips when only one works. Any ideas??

I'll report back if it doesn't work!

Can u see any breaks in the line. If u cant, u take a voltage meter and run it on he lines until u find the break in the lines then u get the repair kit and u put the tape on each sides of the lines then paint the stuff that comes in the kit on the window and walla u have a repaired line. There are some more details to it but thats the jist of it. The repair kit comes with instructions.

I got the Permatex kit from Advanced Auto for about $12. Came with adhesive to fix a fallen off pad and to restore broken lines in the grid.

I was dealing with broken lines, so I used a volt meter to measure resistance on each line. I found one line that failed the test and painted the break. That fixed the resistance issue, but it still only heats one line. Can't figure it out.
