How abused was it over the last 17+ years? A very well maintained example might be able to take double the stock power.

Can you please elaborate on your question. The reason I am asking because a lot will depend on the ancillary systems supporting the engine, ie turbo, fuel, engine management, etc.

For the tranny....it's hit or miss. Again, alot depends on how you drive and how it's been driven.

There is no magic number for either of these questions. However if you can provide some more details on what you want to do we can help narrow down on a number.

There is no cheap and easy way out for engine management. You either pay initially to get something that works, or you pay on the back end with problems and issues trying to get the cheap one to work, or worse yet, you pay for another engine/rebuild because the cheap engine management didn't give you the control you needed and killed the engine.

What size injectors are you looking to use? I'll preface the next few sentances that this is my opinion, and I'm sure you'll find others with different opinions. You should be fine on stock internals with proper engine management up to around 300 chp. You could maybe push it further and be ok, but that's a nice round number for you, and anything much above that, you're talking about going to the next level with a lot of stuff.

I have no experience with the FIC. It is a piggy back, and as with any piggy back EM, if not setup correctly, or even when setup correctly can fight the stock ECU. Or the stock ECU can learn around some things.

Can it be made to work, probably. Are there any issues with it....not sure. I'd suggest searching in the electrical forum to see if anyone has used one of them and what their results were like.

I hate paying money for something I could do but if it's done wrong it's wouldn't be doing much good it seems
