cam sprockets
getting ready to send the heads off to the head shop and having a hell of a time getting the timing sprockets off to remove the timing cover backing plates. any trick to these?

On the DOHC camshafts there is a place between the lobes to use a wrench to hold 'em. Maybe the SOHC do too?

If you have them out of the head, you can snug one of the lobes in a vice w/ a shop rag around it to hold it secure while you break the torque on the bolt.
93 legacy wagon L, 22T swapped (TW imitator) now with five forward speeds. (Gone, but never forgotten)
