Fuel injectors, any good deal, any recommendations?

Post by volny »

So I finally found the "right" plugs to perform a U-check.

Looks like I need to replace all of my injectors (which makes sense, balless in first and in 5th).

To my surprise they run for 80-100 bucks each...

So my question, is there a way to buy refurbished injectors, or get a good deal period on these, and is there any specific kind that would work better from your experience?

Its a 92 awd wagon.

Cheers'

Is it a turbo, or a n/a car?

Junkyard. Or actually I think I have a set myself I'd sell you for $30 shipped. Not sure of the condition because I've never used them but they came with some NA fuel rails I bought and didn't end up using. They look to be in good shape.

Are you sure your injectors are bad? Just because the ECU is sending codes for the injectors? Probably an electrical problem.

It's sending me codes for all 4 injectors, idle switch, and cam angle sensor....which I have no clue what these are yet...I want to run some Inj cleaner first and re-trhow the codes. Very interested in your offer otherwise.
Car has 230k miles on it and probably never changed injectors...

if you just read the codes for the first time, I'd clear them and see what comes back before replacing parts.

Kimo, if he does buy ur injectors, soak them in gasoline for a couple days. I bought a set from a guy a while ago, and he said they were working fine but had been sitting for a year. When i got them, only one was working. Soaked them in gasoline per Rob's tip, and sure enough, the worked like a charm after a good soak.

Just drop em in gasoline eh? If he wants to buy them I'll do it. Otherwise I'll just leave them in the box they're sitting in.

Good call, I cleared the codes and ran a diagnostic again, nothing showed up! Looks like I'm good for a while...although I'm sure it would be a good idea to have replace in the near future!

Agreed, probably a sign they ARE on the way out.

When my #3 injector started to die, I never had an active CEL for injectors. instead, it was occasionally stored when I read the ECU. After a while I noticed my wideband was showing richer than normal. I tested each injector and turns out, #3 was reading like 55 ohm, which is majorly out of spec. So bottom line, the CEL was correct all along.

Cool so I will replace them in the near future.

The car drives like a charm but I know it has more guts originally. 1st gear is tired (feels like) and 5th sloppy. My car buddy helper told me that thats usually what takes a dump first as the central gears are more "solid".

So Kimo, I think I will help you get rid of these injectors!
