edm light bulbs
so there are diaghrams for installing the head light motor if you search hard enough but no one ever ays anthing about hooking up the bulb itself. the bulb is different from the previous one i (9004) have so i cant use the plug. so i cut the plug and stripped the wires. there are three prongs just like on the 9004 bulb assuming on is ground, high, and then low beam. i am going to connect the wires as such and see if that should work. i believe this should only do damage to the bulb if i cross the high and low beam. just wondering what people have done for hooking these up. i will be getting female ends so i can just slide them on and make it look semi clean and not getto. also have to splice the corner lights seeing that the lugs are different.

The wiring is pretty much the same. I ended up using a relay so I had power directly from the battery with new relays feeding the lights.
One thing to note is that subaru uses a switched ground setup, so instead of being one ground and two power, it's two ground and one power lead.
This is for the 92 Legacy, but should be the same/similar for the 90-91's

Or you can d/l the entire electrical section for the 90 MY

Re: edm light bulbs
So why didn't you just use the existing wiring. How do you switch the lights on and off. Well I hooked the lights up how I thought and they worked fine but I still need to find female connectors large enough.

Re: edm light bulbs
I used the existing wiring to trigger the new relays I installed. The existing wiring had smaller wire. Installing new larger wire from the battery allows for more current to flow to the lights so they end up being brighter.
Daniel Stern Lighting has a kit with everything needed to convert the 9004 setup to H4 with ECE lights. Kit is RIK-H4R, $61.

I have since replaced the fuse that came with the kit. The fuse type setup sucks and caused me to be without lights on several occasions.

You can get H4 bulb connectors at NAPA, they already have wires and terminals in them.
