92" Legacy Accelleration issues

Post by riksmix »

HI All,

I have "92 Legacy turbo.
Nice car, but some accelerating issues have occured.

Previous owners have upgraded car quite a lot but still same issue.
Upgrades done:
VOS Chip
3" excaust.
Wide band solenoid.

Issue that all previous owners have noticed and i find it quite an issue is that during accelleration around 4K-5K RPM have "empty space" in accelleration. Its like loosing power for second and then accellerates like mad man futher up to 8000 RPM.
Turbo pressure is up to 17PSI in present configuration.

Actions done so far:
1. New Candle wires
2. Checked fuel pump pressure (no drops during accelleration).
3. Fuel ratio stayes quite ok during accelleration (down to 0.7).
4. Monitored exhaust and emptied catalyst.
5. Notised that it might be related to humidity. If lower humidity then accelleration some times perfect! Which is really strange.
6. New intake Filter.
7. tried to lower Turbo pressure to 15PSI.
(alternative chip to VOS - Modified chip using copy from VOS. Change only Boost solenoid conf).

Have anyone here any clue what could be the issue what else to check?
Suggestions and ideas are more than appreciated

Im sorry for spelling errors as im not native english.

Just PIC from yesterday when i was on track with my car:

Welcome to the BBS.

Your comment about the humidity may seem to indicate that there may be wiring issues. What I'd suggest doing is using a multi-meter and check the resistance of all the sensor wiring from the sensor to the ECU. It should have 0 ohms or very close to that. If you find a wire that has higher resistance, it may have cracked insulation or frayed wire. I'd try and do your testing when it's more humid if the problem seems more noticable during that time.
