IACV wiring

Post by lucas »

ive been having a crap ton of problems with my iacv after putting a new pig tail on the connector wires, long story short took it to a shop they said it was good after fixing bad ground and crossed wires due to difference in wiring between different years of computers i swapped..

That being said i have taped up all the wires best i could tried to keep them from touching anything all that jazz. seems that if i dont let the car totally warm up to operating temp itll throw the 24 code upon stopping and the idle coming down.

super frustrating situation Im terrible with electrical stuff and cant afford to take it back to the shop. Not sure what i should do next. Try splicing a new pig tail? Or run new wires?

how hard is it to run new wires from the iacv to where ever it is they finally stop?

What I would recommend is running new wires from the ECU to the IAC valve. Just run two wires out the window and to the IAC valve to test whether the new wiring helps. If it does, then run the wires through the firewall and make things look tiedy.

The best way to do this would be to shove the new wire in the back side of the ECU pins for the IAC valve (for testing only). For a more permanent solution you can either cut the stock wire just a little bit back from the ECU and use a crimp connector to connect the two or you can use a T-tap to splice into the existing stock wire without cutting it.

I'd definitely recommend you find someone with a little bit of electrical experience to help you. There's quite a few folks up in the tacoma/seattle area. So hopefully someone can help.

do the wires go to the ecu or to the harness under the washer bottle?

Are you talking about the new (test) wires, or the original ones?

The new ones you want to run all the way to the ECU, eliminate the old wiring completely.

You can test the existing wiring for continuity to see if it's ok. It can be done with a little knowledge of how to use a digital multi-meter.
