Racing Seat Suggestions for '91 Legacy Turbo

Post by Subi Chicky »

Looking for a good, affordable race seat for a '91 Legacy Turbo. Need opnions. If anyone knows where to find something like this, or has any experience with this, please e-mail me at msmegganann@yahoo.com or find me (Subi Chicky) on www.NASIOC.com, www.i-club.com, or www.rs25.com

Must come in grey or black.
Must be reclinable.
Must be able to buy, or seat must come with, sliders and mouning brackets and/or platforms.
Must not have a high seat "lip" that dumps the driver deep into the seat.
Must be able to purchase in pair.
Prefer they be available within 1-4 weeks.

Thanks for your help guys :D If I have posted this in the wrong forum, give me a heads-up.
Are you kidding me? It takes more than 5 minutes to look this fabulous.

any race seat suggestions at all?

I'm not as picky as Subi Chicky, I just want any racing seat that's cheap (and reasonably safe and comfy).

Anyone know how race seats compare vs RS seats vs WRX seats?

Any seat for the Impreza/WRX will fit in the Legacy.

I've got seats from a 01 RS coupe in mine, and while they're a lot better than the stock ones, they're nowhere near "race" seats. The WRX are much better, but they're also heavy.

If you want a race seat, look at Sparco, Momo and Corbeau.

Thanks, Dave. When I rally-cross in the stock seats, I get thrown all over the place so bad that it's hard to concentrate on the car's dynamics. Plus I come home with bruises on my legs and I broke some of the plastic under the steering wheel and dash.

Yeah, my RS seats are nothing special. They must be sized for large Americans which leaves alot of space for skinny-A people like me to fly all over the place. Plus I heard WRX seats have airbags in them... that's the last thing I want to think about putting in my car. On the flipside, though, if I cop pulls me over I don't want a bright orange race seat and 5 point harness!!!!

Just like the rest of car preperation; when you're dealing with seats, you will get what you pay for. Sparco and momo seats are the most comfortable seats in my opinion.

While I didn't have pay for them, the seats in the Impreza that I navigated for last season fit me perfect (5'8.5", 165lbs). Momo Acropolis. They were not adjustable. But an adjustable race seat isn't. By that i mean if they can recline, they weren't built for racing.

I believe that Recaro is the only manufacturer that makes a reclining seat that is FIA approved. But then again, I know of no race car that has them, and they're expensive as hell at just about a grand per seat.

Take my comments as you want. I'd suggest you save up and get a seat that's worth it instead of just going with "whatever works." You're back and bum will thank you later. :)

i like the Recaro SRD, but they $600 a peice. sparco torinos are pretty good and momo seats are good. you really have to go to a shop and sit in them, then determine what feels best. :o

If you get tossed around in your seat from the rally-x i'd recommend getting 3/4 point harnesses... they are a lot cheaper and will hold you firmly into your stock seat

this worked very well for me last season

I like my sparco torino's. now I don't have to hold on to the steering wheel to keep myself from sliding around.

I need new seats. I will probably look into a performance seat for the driver's seat....especially since mine is just plain worn out.

I just picked up a set of '98 RS seats for $100. They feel MUCH better than the crappy stock seats. I just got lucky in that a friend of mine had them sitting around and he sold them to me cheap. The cool thing is they're a fairly close match as far as the interior colors go too.
