auto / manual swap on a 95 wagon. Driveshaft question

Post by pmbassist »

Been lurking on here for a while and am very pleased with the amount of info on this board.

I swapped my 5 speed from my first gen wagon to my second gen. Pretty straight forward until I got to the driveshaft. Turns out it's about 2 inches too short. I guess they increased the wheelbase by 50mm from first to second gen.

I'm going to have a driveshaft made and was wondering if anyone knows the driveshaft length for a second gen wagon with a manual gearbox.

I'd really appreciate any info since I'm driving a rental till I get this figured out.

The only info I was able to find on driveshaft length was in regards to the front portion that connects to the transmission. They listed a difference for the AT & MT, but don't list the overall length or length of just the rear section.

I would think you'd be able to find a used 2nd gen Legacy driveshaft in a junkyard or possibly online. Where are you located?
