Does anyone know if the fuel economy goes down in the snow in the cars with AWD??? I was just curious about this today when I was driving around in the snow, and this though occured to me, since I could feel the car slipping some...
BTW, I had some fun driving in the snow, although I almost hit a snow pile that someone plowed into the middle of the road

I used to slam big chunks of snow on the highways. Bad idea - bumper got bent down a few degrees after a winter. Body shop had to straighten it when they did everything else.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
Most definitely. Lots of extra drag & resistance on the tires, etc...
Playing in the snow with 4x4 will make my wagon (and my former brat) gas mileage drop into single digits!!
Drove my Legacy on a solid snow covered road today... whew hoo hoo, can you say boost + summer tires + ~150 whp = a lot of spinning on demand. That was so fun...
Ok, my theory is correct then. For a while I thought I was getting some good mileage since replacing the o2 sensor, then all the sudden my mileage dropped after it started snowing here...
I've noticed that on my brothers n/a legacy, it is a lot easier to control on snowy roads, and not as much wheel spin...

I think my car will do better next winter when I get some better all season tires on, the Coopers that came on the car just plain suck, they are always going flat...
