92 turbo sedan idle/check engine issues

Post by ShorelineScooby »

im new to the subie game so im in need of some help.

just picked up a 92 leggy turbo with 95k original miles. motor seems to run smooth and pull fine, however at idle, it likes to sit around 1100 and drop down to 650-500 and sputter and cough. also, when i shut off the car, right before the motor is completely off, it gives out a little jump that shakes the car for a sec.

also, this has been happening since before i bought the car, but the check engine light turns on after about 20 minutes or so of driving. it has recently started coming on sooner, like 5-10 minutes after starting car.

any thoughts on where to start?

Welcome to the BBS!

What a nice find, 95k is great mileage. Definitely pull the CEL code using the steps above and report back.
