Just read in Racecar Engineering about an anti-lag system idea that Ford and Subaru were using at the end of last year (outlawed for next year). It takes pressurized air from between the intercooler and intake manifold and stores it in a tank (or tanks) for later release when needed. I had this almost exact idea 2.5 yrs ago, but couldn't figure out how to move enough volume of air. They figured that part out and specced larger tanks (mine had to fit in the passenger foot well, yet still allow women's feet to fit). I even wrote the damn thing into my book (although I state it doesn't work ) . At least the article stated that Ford claims it only increased engine output 1%. Though it must have been pretty useful for all the extra weight, complexity, and expense and for the FIA to ban it instead of their earlier ruling reducing tank size.
