ej20g won't go into reverse

just had the trans rebuilt and am wondering if i put the shifter in wrong? I can go in all forward gears just fine, but when i try to stick it in reverse it just grinds. Its snowjobs old leggy. Which is EJ20G in a 1991 leggy 5spd. Any ideas? I would hate to pull the trans again.

When you are completely stationary, can you put it in 5th then reverse?

yea won't go in with engine off, so i am thinking i screwd up the shift linkage?

That's possible. I'm on my phone or I'd link you a pic. Google Subaru shift linkage and compare to how yours is installed. Its also possie you did install I correctly and rebuilder did something wrong.

What are you calling the shifter? The shifter linkage? Was that new? Or did you rebuild the trans? If it won't go into reverse, it could mean something wasn't put together properly when it was rebuilt.
