High pitched chirp in engine bay?

Post by alexandermf »

First we thought it might be the bearing in ac comp. Then we thought it was a belt. Now, I have no clue with the symptoms.

Will chirp while driving, or idling with load, won't chirp in neutral. Its super high pitch with roughly 2-4 chirps/second. The weird part is ..... If I open my hood latch while driving or idling in drive it goes right away, then ill push my hood back down and it'll come back. Nothing is rubbing on the hood, I've checked so idk what else this sound could be. Its like a mix of a loose belt/bearing somewhere but the symptoms don't make sense

Hmmm, that's very strange.

What happens if you remove all the belts and run the car for a little bit to test whether the noise is still there? If the noise is still there, that eliminates all the belts, pullies and accessories. If it goes away, then you've at least narrowed it down to something associated with those components.
