Hanging high idle at startup..

Post by alexandermf »

So this issue has gotten worse and worse over the past couple months(was worse with the colder weather).

Upon startup my car will idle high at 1500 ish and stay like that for a good couple mins until it slowly makes it was to 1100 ish or until I put it into drive where it settles right around 1000. No codes so I'm guessing dirty iac?

It's probably the temperature based piece in the IAC valve. There is a bimetallic strip that opens/closes a little valve based on coolant temperature.

You could try cleaning it, but may need to get a new IAC valve.
