Fuel cut idea

Post by lucas »

So this might not be what you think its gonna be about. Im thinking about adding some inline ball valves just before the fuel filter that when closed shut off the flow of fuel... In the case of a theft.

Anyone ever do this? Could be easily accomplished at low cost for parts.

How much time would it take for the car to run outta fuel and would there be any possible damage to the engine?

Why not put a disconnect on the starter/ignition circuit? Ball valves will start to leak over time, seems like a bad idea to me. Doing it electrically gives you piece of mind that the engine won't even try to fire.

Yeah that's all it is. They're easy to install. Electrical stuff can be scary because its so easy to do a shoddy job and create gremlins, but this typically works off a single wire. Definitely safer than messing with the fuel lines.

Alternatively, you could just unplug your coil pack every time you leave the car for the same effect. Its not as convenient as a switch though.
