Weird grinding issue / floating?

Post by devilzdriver »

So after a fresh transfluid change. I was coming home from getting my safety inspection. I noticed after about 65+ MPH my car kinda wonders about, i did replace the rear diff in the transmission almost 5 months ago, but it came out of a low mileage outback. The grinding i noticed when i was parking i turned it hard left and my drivers side sounded like metal on metal? did not do it on the right side, so i am lost. Any input would be great.

Did the noise go away when you turned the wheel straight?

If so, I'd suggest that it may be something to do with the front suspension setup.

Well jack up the car, let the wheels slowly rotate and turn the wheel to see if you can determine where the noise is coming from.

I'm not overly familiar with the forester suspension components, but I seem to recall the rear bushing on the front lateral link is different and the front subframe may be different as well.....I'm not sure.

Hopefully someone that is knowledgeable will chime in.
