better investment for recent rebuilt motor

Post by turbo970 »

trying to decide which would be a better investment on my subie. would a 06 tmic be smarter or a AOS from grimmspeed. i'm leaning towards the AOS do to random start up puffs of smoke. i talked to the rebuild company and they said the rings arent 100% seated yet. i do have 1500 miles or so on the engine

I personally don't think an AOS will help the puff of smoke on start up. However an AOS is something worth doing.

The TMIC would be better in my mind, but may be more involved to get everything to work.

It appears so... dont forget to check out the many intercooling threads to find out which additional parts you need, if you haven't already.

On new motors, Subaru recommends 3,000 miles. However, the rings should seat and mostly wear in during the first couple hundred miles. I would think by 1,000 miles they are "seated" as they are going to be.

What type of pistons & rings are you using?

far as i know of they used all standard rings and pistons. but i did notice the oil was a tad over full so i think thats where the puff of smoke is coming from
