Canister purge solenoid valve

Post by ugaucin »

Shouldn't the purge solenoid valve be plugged in? Or am I wrong. Its on my 1994 touring wagon. On my N/A its plugged in. Should it be plugged in the ej22t?

Yeah. Mines hooked up and I've run it with the hoses plugged, stock config and more recently vented with a filter to keep debris out and I honestly couldn't tell a difference between the three setups but I vote vented. Remove that canister mess from the bay.

So it's not needed?

No. It vents the fuel tank so it doesn't build too much pressure but even plugged it didn't damage anything for thousands of miles.

If you have a state inspection and have a thorough inspector, they will see that and fail it. If the hoses are there, just hook them back up. One goes to the top of the throttle body, and the other goes to the charcoal canister.
