thewaterboy's 1993 Legacy 2.2 NA Wagon mini-build
Hey all.
New to the forum, but not new to Subaru.
I've had an '06 Steel Gray WRX and a '91 Legacy NA Sedan in the past, and after volunteering at WCSS 16 in Port Townsend WA, I caught the bug again.
I've wanted to pick up a cheap beater Subi since that meet, and a great little craigslist find granted that.
I drove up to Bremerton and picked up this beat to hell 1993 Legacy Wagon, 2.2l NA, 5spd and drove it home for $600. It needs a few things, such as a radiator and corner lights/tail light, and there is a horrid rattle coming from the header shield. But in all, its fairly solid! Everything works (aside from the fuel gauge).
Current plans involve:
UEL headers/Full exhaust
GC8 Coilovers
Adapters to 5x112 so I can run my Audi wheels (have 3 sets)
B6 A4 Sport 5-Spoke 17x7.5 wheels with some 215/45R17's
Cams
Fix all body damage
Potential future plans:
Full engine build/swap/yoloblowitup
RWD swap?
I'll start off with a little progress on it:
I pulled the pass side fuel level sender and attempted to clean it, to no avail.
Also unbolted the axleback because I don't have any neighbors to piss off.
I'm currently also mid-build on my 1998 Audi A4 LM7 drift project, here is a link for anybody interested.
http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthrea ... or-shut-up
I'm excited to be a part of the Subaru community, as the atmosphere at WCSS 16 was incredible.
I'll get some pics today, and just wanted to say thanks for having me!

I have a couple options for wheels. The RS6 18's,cj91legss wrote:Get those wheels on man, I really wanna see it!
the B6 Sport 17's,
and some Mercedes SLK 17's as well.
Haha as soon as I get my adapters, I can start to play around with them >:)

Traded my Audi wheels for some knockoffs of the same wheel with better offset and 5x100 lug pattern. Got $ out of it too. Here is a before lowering pic:
EDIT:
Didn't need to make another whole post for a small update, the Legacy has proper fitment now.

Got a new radiator, upper and lower hoses, NGK BKR6E11's, plug wires, and some paint to refresh the engine bay a little bit. I still have a coolant leak on the back of the engine, under the intake mani. I'll be pulling the mani off tomorrow to check it out. I'll be ordering a full gasket/seal/TB/water pump kit here soon before winter hits.

Re: thewaterboy's 1993 Legacy 2.2 NA Wagon mini-build
Thanks bud!! Im really loving this thing. Its a fun little beater/DD that I can actually afford to modify. After doing so much to the Audi, doing anything on this is a total breeze! I need to get coilovers really badly. After i get it at 100% leak free/running properly, ill get some racelands.killajamal wrote:In an odd way I really like your wagon! And that lip. GOTDANGGG. Another update, I deleted all my AC components, from the condenser back. Also in process of spraying my grill right now.

Painted my wheels. I want to redo them in a darker gold.

I know that feel, bro. I used to be a vintage BMW guy, but working on these cars is 1000x easier than their intricate German cousins.thewaterboy wrote:After doing so much to the Audi, doing anything on this is a total breeze!
I like those wheels! And it's always good to see another N/A wagon...we're the minority here compared to the boosted SS crowd

Replaced the busted driver's side taillight, and did the Amber delete on both sides.
I've also got something fun planned for the interior, with this vinyl wrap
If everything pans out with that, ill be getting this wheel as well.

Took an extra week, but she's back on the road! New gaskets all round, as well as new timing kit. I slapped on some yellow fogs in the bumper, but i need to aim them before i take any pics.

Car is still running excellent, aside from the exhaust leak. I got some D2 36-way adjustable coilovers for $250 off my local CL, and they have totally changed this cars driving characteristics. Still lacking a RSB, it handles very well and turn in is sweeeeeet.
I need to pull it apart again and lift it about 0.5"-0.75" up. It looks cool now, but rubs pretty badly.
Also did a shotty P'Shop of my old AMG Monoblocks onto the roo, and really dig the look... They can be had for cheap as reps in 17x9.5 5x100 +35. Like, $400 shipped brand new, cheap.
Also convinced my wife to trade in her 2011 RAV4 and get an older Subaru! Were thinking a first gen Forester at the top end of the spectrum, and would gladly settle for another first gen $600 legacy like mine haha.
Next up on the list for my car, however, would be: RSB
Front and rear pads+rotors
New head unit
New speakers
Winter wheels/tires
Replace damaged corner lights
Replace locks
Clean up fog light install

2 tow trucks in a week! A new record for me. Ive drove the Subaru around all day yesterday with the MAF unplugged (needed replacement) and I'm really hoping its just the plugs getting fouled out that has caused this breakdown. Out of nowhere on Tuesday, it began throwing codes for: 2 Injectors, start switch, knock sensor, MAF, and canister purge solenoid valve.
Im thinking the ECU is on the way out. Not sure how else all this just started happening.

Car is still at the shop. I want to just go take my spare key and a junkyard ecu and drive it home.
A friend of mine is selling some wheels i reeeeeally want. They are Riken Turbo Split's. Specs are 15x8.5 ET-37. They are rowdy as hell. I'd need adapters for the 5x127 (5x5) lug pattern, a whole lot more low, and some flares. But fuuuuhhhhh. I need them in my life.
Same wheels, different specs

Got the car back a few weeks ago. All is good, aside from the header. Well, thanks to eBay and $100, this came to my door.
Now I just need a cat/test pipe to get it hooked up to my exhaust.

Which header did you get? And how hard is it to fit on our cars?

Header and cat needed a little love to fit, but they are on! It already sounds incredible! I still need to put the catback I've got on, but with the stock exhaust it still sounds great.

I like your header setup. What all did you need to do to make it fit? Which forester pieces(year etc) ?
