I like mine. looks great, built to last, inexpensive......
mounts on in basically origanal spot with NO hood interference.
But only two out of four bolt holes line up.
I didn't like mounting it with only two bolt holes because of the vibration that would be present on the unattached side.
So i cut and drilled a plate of alum.
And switched the stock plug wire ends for L shaped to match up to the MSD.
IT idled better( snottier) and ran crisper, but the wires and coil i took off were hurtin.

i've had mine on for over a year now and i dont think there was much perforamnce gain maybe max 5hp? but the sound changed it made the exhaust tone lower and angryer but the main reason i did it was for fuel economy. after having done just the coil, plugs and wires and stuff had already been changed, i gained about 50km to a tank.
and it only cost like 80$ or so for the coil, shipping and connector off a neon.

do it!

Just got my MSD coil in the mail. Think $80 shipped from Summit, came in two days. Anyone with old coils should replace them with these cost half as much as the stock coil from the dealer, will post pick of the entire install.

You can save alot of money by just going to a pick and pull and getting a coil off a Neon. You need the Neon connector anyway so just pick up the coil at the same time. The difference isn't worth the money.

Can't agree with you on that, used coil is a used coil. Anyone with a high mileage coil pack should consider replacing it. I'm not a nasioc snob, I am sorting my TW out to get it running like a top.

I was looking into replacing my coil, from the dealer I think it was upwards of $150 from Liberty Subaru. I admit I didn't look at the price of the neon coil new but the price of the MSD coil was within my budget,

Just to note, if you go with the MSD coil, you will need to run the newer style spark wires meant to mate with the male coil vs. the stock coil which has female connections.

You could probably get wires for newer model Impreza ej22's. My 97 Impreza has a 2.2 and has the male style connectors on the coil.

What is the part number for the MSD DIS-2 unit? They seem to have a buttload of different ones. It looks like maybe the 62112 but that is $600.

The older one (one in my car) is 6211. It appears there's a new version and that part # is 62112. You could see if there are any of the older part # DIS-2's on ebay for cheaper.
