manifold + uppipe

Post by morgie »

I just discovered that my exaust manifold is broken. As for my up-pipe. (both in the flex)

what are the "cost-wise" options for replacing those 2 pieces ?

thanx for sharing your knowledge :)

cost-wise? muffler cement, coat hangers, tinfoil, and some muffler tape.

but I reccommend you use this as a justification for getting some reasonably priced aftermarket stuff. I doubt you'll find much in junkyards since our cars' bits and pieces are highly prized. the manifolds are good for turbo'ing 2.5 RSs, and WRXs like to use them since they're catless.

by cost-wise, i was talking about cheap replacements for those peaces. I cant use tape or cement or wathever because the cracks are UNDER the spring-like flexibles, so i cant reach them. :(

Does a WRX header fit our 2.2l block ? or will i need to find a replacement part for the 2.2l and 2.2l only ?

do you know any companies building those parts for a reasonable price ?

is it possible to build custom parts for that ? (i.e. buy a new manifold / header and make a custom up-pipe ? )

thanx for your help. i dont know any companies in that domain.

Morgie,

I am getting a custom Up-pipe made for mine tomorrow - I will let you know the cost.

As for manifolds - I bet headers may be cheaper....

Headers... I was inquiring about supe-up parts awhile ago, and IIRC, SPO Motorsports has headers for 2.2's, I think Borla makes headers for us too, but I don't know how good Borla is, I group that name with Flowmaster :? ...

morgie, wrx headers and up pipes fit ej22t blocks just fine. I am using an hks header and a vishnu uppipe pipe on my car. I posted pics of it on this site at one time.

They have a WRX Header for $330 worth taking a look at. If I have a chance I'll stop by the store and see what they look like.
