I just pulled the entire fuel pump assembly out of my impreza and swapped it into the legacy to test in case its a wiring/connector problem. - Although it felt more responsive and at first seemed like it was fixed, not even 5min. Of driving(solid boosting perfect 10psi) the problem reoccurred, pulled over, turn off, on..viola.

I have not tried the under hood filter.

I put a new fuel filter in, still having problems.

I tried driving with the green diagnostic connectors plugged in. I drove a short distance and then what I think I saw was 12, 32, 51. Then I turned the car off for about 10min. And then started driving again, greens plugged in, apon start no codes, then code 51 came up shortly, I drove about 40miles and the car never acted up, code 51 was flashing the hole time. Only code.
Without the connectors in the car would stall at least once or twice every 10miles. Or its coincidence.

Update 4/6: I drove around this morning a bit more with the greens plugged and the car did fall on its face again, several times. This time codes 51 and 32 are showing.

I guess I must be blind as a bat. Broken off piece of a cheap ass filter.
It all makes sense now.

Was that from a pod style air filter?

That's pretty crazy! Is everything working ok now?
