So I have a 90 Legacy sedan, and naturally the filler neck turned to swiss cheese. I tried to patch it up, but to no avail, and it seems like filler necks for this model are out of production at this point. The thing is, The 1993 Impreza supposedly used the same underpinnings but shortened a bit. I'm not sure where that shortening happened, but looking at the filler neck for the Impreza it seems like that area of the car stayed the same.

I have a bunch of pictures of the filler neck from my car and I can't tell a difference, besides the fact that all of the mounting brackets have rotted away. All subies seem to have the same shape neck, so I'm not 100% convinced it's a drop in replacement, but short of having a custom one made or hunting around the junkyards for (an equally rusty) replacement, I'm sort of out of options.
What do you guys think?
Also hello! This is my first post XP

Re: Filler Neck Interchangeability?
I don't know first-hand if they're similar enough to work, but 1st gen Legacys are nearly identical mechanically to 1st gen Imprezas (as you stated).
Part number interchangeability looks like it just fits 2nd gen Legacy, and the old Legacy number doesn't seem to supersede into the Impreza/2nd gen Legacy number.
That said, if it looks similar to the one you pulled out of your car, it is very possible that fitment-wise it will work.
Since the original Legacy number doesn't exist anywhere anymore, if you want a brand new neck you'd probably have to give that a chance.
Otherwise I could also recommend looking at car-part.com for yards that may be able to pull and ship one to you (a quick search on there shows 3 yards with listings, or you can request a quote that other yards can respond to), or you could post to the classifieds here (though you'd probably have better luck on facebook groups).

Re: Filler Neck Interchangeability?
I don't think 2nd gen legacy has any revisions to the floor stamping in that area. The tank might have different vent ports for emissions stuff. In any case I think that filler itself will almost certainly work but you might need to screw around with the hoses.
It's also worth noting that they make generic necks that are just stubs with hose barbs for utility body trucks custom vehicles and the like. It would not be hard at all to get one of those, tee in the vapor hose with a bulkhead fitting and then just run hose the whole way down to the tank.
That said, even if the Impreza one is "wrong" I think it'll be less work to adapt than a generic universal one.

Re: Fuel Filler Neck Interchangeability?
I went ahead and ordered it and it does in fact fit! The mounting tabs were different, but since most of the ones on my car were gone it didn't make much of a difference, and I didn't have to cut any of them off for it to fit. I did have to use longer screws than were supplied to get the upper guard plate/bezel sort of thing that goes around the cap to fit, but the cap also screwed to the new neck just fine.
Hopefully someone else finds this info helpful.
