Bad karma, bad trannie, bad year...just bad..

Post by David Carter »

During my mobilization at Ft.dix My legacys Auto Trannie died.. well didn't egzactly completely die but it got me to base so it could rot in goverment storage for 2 years so i'm thinking when i get back i'll want to get it fixed.
I was driving from Ashley, PA to Ft.Dix, NJ at an illegal speed (80) tring not to be late for company formation (excuses excuses) anywho at 80 the car lurches and i could swear tossed the car a couple inches in the air.. the car instantly red-line so i take my foot off of the gas and put her in neutral and slowly pulled off the road. I let it idle which is normal...nothing unusuall.. So i decide to continue on for fear of my 1st SGT's Scorn.. She gets half way thru first and redlines... so in a panic i switch to manual mode and shift to 2nd which seems to work at 5500rpms i shift to third again she goes straight to redline.. so needless to say i drove 3/4ths the way to DIX in second at 45mph..and despite my best efforts i was late anywho. So to summerize i only have half of first, all of second, and no third, which won't shift to forth which is probably fine but can't shift manually and unless the vehical cycles all the way thru 3rd i can't use 4th..so it might as well be gone to.

So my best guess is i need a new trannie. unless someone can tell it something that is less expensive to repair..vs replaceing the whole trannie.

If a complete replacement is in order.. would it be feaseable to go MT? or is that to involved?
