The leading edge of the dash above the middle of the hood over the gauges would just have the LEDs in a line there. I think some TVRs had an idea or something like that for their shift lights or maybe they were in the top of the steering wheel or something.

oh, yeah taht would work. Be a neat setup too. Might get in trouble with the law though, so be careful.

Why not take the guage cluster out and mount it inside. If you mess up its easy to replace.

That's another idea. The TVR idea just popped in my head, but that was for shift lights which should be easier to see without looking down. A/F doesn't matter as much.

I made one last year from the Shitaco.org directions.
Pulled apart an old VDO gauge, painted the face and drilled 10 holes.
