Hello From New Zealand,
I am new to this forum and so far I found a wealth of information that will be of use. I have an RS Legacy. The other day the starter motor let me down but I haven't had a chance to replace it as yet. I've had a quick look but am unsure whether it remove it from the top or from underneath. I looks hard both ways though from the top it looks like i'll have to remove the intercooler??? Any ideas??? all help greatly appricated.
Thanks,
Craig Anderson.

I know when I did mine.....I had to get at the starter from the top and bottom side. It wasn't exactly the funnest job I've ever done...especially since it was getting cold and I was working in a parking stall.
You may have to remove some of the intercooler stuff to get access to it.

The starter has 2 bolts (plus a nut for the starter cable), one on top, one on the bottom. Usually you have to remove the top one from the top and the bottom one from the bottom. once you've removed them you should be able to drop the starter down through the bottom.
Just take a good look at things and see what you'll need to do.
