I've been having this problem for a while now but it seems to ahve gotten worse. I get 3 codes on my ecu. Mass air sensor, solenoid purge valve, and knock sensor.
Basically when i pull out of gear and coast the rpms sometimes drop to a stall. I've heard this happening when braking sometimes, but it will happen without me hitting the brakes also. When idling normaly the idle is quite steady. The problem was very bad about a month ago and during this time my car had an exhaust leak. When i got that patched up it seemed to help out alot and stablized the car but the problem has returned. Strangely on the drive to work it happens in the same places and ive tried to change driving habbits but it keeps dipping.
A while back i was going to change the MAF and some ahole sold me a AT one which i still have. He insured me that it was for a MT and that this was the right parts, ofcourse there is no return on electronics so i got stuck with it. I called up subaru and they told me this was infact for an AT not MT.
Any ideas i know the knock sensor and solenoid arent too expensive but the MAF can be costly.
Any help is appreciated.

Well, there's a little shield that'll keep you from hitting the hot wire directly. But, yeah, as long as you don't spray at high pressure it shouldn't hurt the sensor. Remove the sensor from the airbox, spray out out, and then just let the cleaner fully evaporate.

ARG still stalling. I changed the knock sensor and the solenoid purge... the check engine light has yet to come on but the stalling problem continues. Anyone got any idea whats going on? I was told supposedly a while ago there was a frayed wire that got burned on the engine block which caused a problem. It was taped up and it helped.. but the problem is i cant find tihs wire... as far as i know it deosnt and didnt exist.
I found a groud wire though that was about to come off it was hanging on a few strands which i reattached and again i really dont see any difference.
