Another Exciting Headlight Question!

Hi guys,
Well I examined the back of the headlight bulb hood under some good lighting this evening, and sure enough there are directions to squeeze it.

The technician that destroyed the hood obviously had no idea what he was doing - he used a screwdriver and a spike to remove it, slicing it in half & I didn't know either, hence I paid them to do it.

So, my question is, how does one properly remove the outer doughnut-like gasket that the small one fits into? There is a rubber tab on the top but I didn't want to do anything without really knowing what I should be doing.

I imagine that to replace the bulb, one must remove that seal. I must sound like a blithering idiot to you guys, but I don't know how to change the headlight bulb on this car.

Anyways, if you're not laughing to hard to reply, any info would be valuable.

you just turn it counterclockwise like half a turn or something. Just go ahead and give it a twist and when you feel it loosen stop twisting and slide it back off the light. Then you can pull the light straight out and push the button holding the light and the wiring harness together. I think the owners manual has some kind of instructions for it but I dont know how detailed it is.

Don't feel bad about not knowing what to do. We all have to start somewhere, i'f you'd like I can go take pics and give you step by step instructions

THAWA, I don't think that's the part he's referring to.

The big rubber donut boot has that tab on the top, and you're actually just supposed to pull on it. If it's old and the rubber is a little crackly, be very very gently on it, but it should slowly pull the whole boot off. You can help by pulling on other parts of the boot with your fingers if you like.

You do need to remove that boot to change headlight bulbs. First disconnect the electrical connector (just push in on the sides of the connector to release the tabs and pull gently away from the light) and then remove the big boot. Then there'll be some kind of metal clip holding the bulb in place. Put the new bulb in lined up the same way (it'll only go in one way) and latch it back up.

Make sure you never touch the bulb's glass with your fingers. If you do, wipe it clean with isopropanol and let it dry fully. It's usually a good idea to clean it that way in any case before installing.

are the 92-94 lights that much different? I can't visualize any of those things you're talking about.
