legacy turbo 5mt into a wrx 5mt?

Post by LegacySport4L »

I know you can put a wrx tranny in a legacy turbo....but does it work the other way? I've heard that it doesn't work in reverse :?:

Without knowing why that just doesn't make sense to me. Anyone know this for sure?

this might help

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthr ... did=363363

i sold a EJ22T and tranny to a guy on nasioc and he ended up selling off the tranny to the guy in the link....he had a little trouble with the linkage, but i think he finally got it....

i know its my tranny cause he sent me an email asking about its history....we pulled it on a snowy day, check out the pics :)

Nope, it doesn't.

The wrx and turbo legacy use different reduction gear ratios in their center and rear differentials. It's posted somewhere on this board. Haven't taken a look at the two posts above.

the legacy SS 5mt is 3.9 and the wrx rear end is 4.11

so i'd have to swap the tranny AND rear end to make it work. seems like that's the only issue.

Yup, that seems to be the issue with alot of the tranny swaps.

actually the wrx rear end is 3.545 since the stepper is 1:1.1 which gives the WRX a more FWD feel.
