I've owned my '92 Wagon for a year now and it's up to 183k+ miles. I had to replace the front halfshafts recently and it solved the tok-tok-tok sound when the car was turning at regular driving speed, but now something else is happening
At low speeds, and low speeds only, when I turn, the car vibrates like it's on re-entry. I'd kinda describe it as feeling almost like trying to turn a shopping cart and having the back wheels stick, so everything vibrates really hard and you get a lot of resistance. I was wondering if any of y'all might let me know what might be going on. There are no independent subie shops in Wichita, so I'd like to find out if this is a problem that can be solved without the local Subaru dealer's involvement. I say this because I worked at the local dealership and it was, no bullshit, a damned used-car lot straight out of a movie. "What can I do to get you to drive this car home?" "You look fantastic behind the wheel of this baby." "Go ahead and look, but you'll come right back when you find that we have the best deal in town!"
So, I try to avoid that place like the plague now, but I love my car and want to give it treatment so it survives the next X years. If anybody has an idea on what could be wrong and whether or not it needs to be repaired with Subaru parts, or whether generic pepboys parts could do the job, I'd be grateful.
<Looking very forward to buying a three year old 2005 Legacy GT Wagon>
BTW it's a 1992 Legacy L Wagon with an AT---it's about as basic as the line gets, no frills.

Someone who knows more about the automatic transmission should answer instead of me, but...
I believe the solenoid that's malfunctioning is Duty Solenoid C. If you do some searching on this board you can find more knowledge on it. Then you can decide how you want to try fixing it.
