sunroof rotting to hell

Post by bignose »

hi, i have a 94 turbo wagon in atlantic canada [462000kms], so it starting to rust to shit. doing body work is cheaper than engine work so that sounds like what i'm going to be up to.

all in side my sunroof is rusting out, and i'm getting some rust spots, any good how to's out there for simple beginner body repair ?

i think i'm going to focus on keeping the body good, and just put jdm engine in a couple years, and just drive the hell out of the current engine.

If you plan on driving the car in the salt then don't waste your time. As for repairs, if the underside of the roof is rotten then thats gonna be real hard to clean up. Basically just clean the rust and chase it down to every nook and cranny to clean it off. If you just cover it with paint/filler its gonna be back in no time.

Bodywork done right is rarely cheaper than engine work. How bad is it? Anything but new metal welded in place of rot is a temporary fix.
