RS Tranny Mounts?

3 quick questions:
1) Would 2001 RS tranny mounts work on a 91 Legacy?
2) Would it matter it the above mentioned tranny mounts where from a manual, and I've got an automatic? I know the engine mounts are all the same
3) Is this a worthwhile change (the RS mounts have less than 10,000 miles on them)

While I've got your attention, how about applying question 3 to motor mounts? Is it worth it to replace the mounts on a 91? Or should this money be spent elsewhere altogether?

Thanks for any insight (I'm only worried because I used up the last of my pads yesterday, and money's a little tight right now)

Tranny mounts are different from auto's vs. manuals.

Not sure if they are the same between years and different models....probably so....but don't bet the bank on it.....

As far as your engine mounts....if they're sti ones....I'd say go for it....not sure if I'd say replace the old engine mounts with stock ones....it may help.....not sure....

They're the stock ones, because he's replaced his with STi mounts. I just don't have the cash for STi mounts, but figured these would be a cheap, minor improvement in the ride quality.

I'm buying stock WRX mounts from someone and my plan is to try to fill in all the extra space with some kind of polyurethane rubber compound (like one from http://www.smooth-on.com/urethanes.asp -- maybe PMC-790? ). That should give a mount that's a good deal stiffer than the stock ones, and certainly a huge step up from my worn out 10-year-old ones.

I agree, any stock mounts will be an improvement over any year BC-BF with the original ones.

Josh is spot-on with the transmission mounts, not only is the mount itself different, but the brackets and bracing is different as well.

I don't know the condition of your old engine mounts, but I know my OEM ones made a completely different car out of mine!!! Most of the complaints I had about the drivetrain feel showing its age were alleviated, if not eliminated, by new mounts.

Damn!

I'm getting a set (2 engine mounts, 1 tranny mount, 1 pitch stop mount) off a 2002 WRX for $40 shipped from California. That urethane compound will cost me around $30 shipped probably.

Has anyone ever used any of this urethane casting stuff before? I'm wondering if I could cut away existing rubber and replace it with this stuff.
