Axle Replacement Question

Post by 123c »

Would it be better for me to spend $106.64 at Subaruparts.com, or $72.93 at another online parts store for an Axle. If I am going to get a better quality part at Subaruparts.com, then I might spend the extra money...

I personally would get the axle from one of the places that have a lifetime warranty. That way at least you never have to pay for a replacement axle. Napa and auto zone etc have 'em

I'm going to get the Genuine rebuilt axle from Subaruparts.com it looks like.

Before I order one, what are some of the other parts I should be replacing when I am replacing an axle, so I can order those at the same time...

Make sure it comes with a new axle nut and a spring pin. They didn't come with my new axles :( Part numbers 28044AA000 and 051906452 respectively.

So I need one per axle?

Isn't there a seal or two that I should replace while I have things apart?

Yup, you'll need both of 'em for each side. Two axles nuts and two spring pins. Not too sure about the seals though. I didn't replace anything.

The Axle is actually $41, with a $65 core charge,

I will go ahead and order the parts now, and if anyone has anything to add, such as seals, I will order those later...

I'll second that place although shipping was a bitch getting those things back to Florida. They also didn't give me new axle nuts and spring pins.

Go to Napa. The ones I got from there came with a new nut and spring pin. Lifetime warranty also. I think they were around 50 bucks each.

Shipping via fedex ground wasn't bad......and you have to ask for new axle nuts & roll pins.....

cvaxles.com is the best...

ciper has a tough time breaking their axles, which means they should last quite a while in anyone else's car

Both my Scoobs have their front axles from them.
