Problem on the fuel gauge!!!!

I was 3/4 tank of gas in tank and suddenly, the fuel gauge needle is like running down to empty and few mins later it back to normal, I know it went back normal since I reset my odo every time when I fill up my gas.
It never happened to me before, is that some problem in tank?
BTW, I replaced a new fuel pump about 4 months ago.

Sounds like a sender problem.

Judge fuel economy by the tripometer, the gauge is inadequate.

Mine does the same thing anywhere above 1/2 tank. Once it gets below 1/2 it reads accurately. This happened after I almost ran the tank dry once.

I just replaced my sender. Very easy. $53 from subaruparts.com and 15 mins. work.
