Can we Define: Touring Wagons - GT wagons - Turbo Wagons ???

Post by Bosco »

The sedan rules seem simple... Turbo sedans are "sport sedans" right?
WAGONS however....

>>>FIRST I thought all 1st generation turbo wagons were "touring wagons".
>>>THEN I noticed 1st gen turbo wagons designated as "GT wagons".
>>>THEN I noticed that there are turbo wagons with the LS designation. I thought touring wagons were all LE models.

Does anyone know how this all actually breaks down over the years?

Are there OTHER 1st gen turbo wagons?

I also heard that there are VERY few (if any) factory made 5mt turbo wagons. Is this right? It doesn't seem logical to me, but I thought I read it here somewhere.

The LE trim is only for the 92's i believe. The 93 and 94 are Touring Wagons. The GT wagon isn't a turbo wagon.

This is all for US wagons.

The gt wagon is a regular ej22, nonturbo.
The LE Touring Wagon was only in 1992, but there are non-LE touring wagons that were sold in 92, i assume towards the end of the model year.
The Touring Wagon is the only turbo wagon sold in the US.

This list on cars101.com got me all cornfused Image cuz they have the LS models listing Not Applicable for hood scoops, and not listed as being Turbocharged.

Are you sure it's an LS? What do the badges on the tailgate say? I'm pretty sure the LS is a completely different trim level and is also NA.

Are you sure it's an LS?
I guess not. It was listed as such though...

This is the info I got from pasting the VIN in to carfax's free teaser:

Year/Make/Model: 1994 SUBARU LEGACY AWD
Body Style: Station Wagon
Engine Type: 2.2L L4 TURBO
Manufactured In: JAPAN
Search Results: 6 records found in our database

The Ebay auction page says: (removed some unimportant and repetitive info)

Subaru : Legacy
1994 Subaru Legacy Wagon LS, AWD
Year: 1994
Engine: 4 CYLINDER 2.2 LITER ***
Standard Equipment:
AM/FM RADIO, CASSETTE, CD, POWER WINDOWS, CRUISE CONTROL, POWER DOOR LOCKS, POWER STEERING, AIR CONDITIONING,
ABS, LS, ALL WHEEL DRIVE, 4 CYLINDER 2.2 LITER
Optional Equipment:
ROOF RACK LEATHER MOONROOF

*** Called and confirmed before I bought. It IS indeed a turbo. The lady said they forgot to mention that on the auction page.

In the photos of the car I can see the badges on the rear say SUBARU on left, and TURBO AWD on right.
Also has hood scoop.

It was thier personal vehicle, I Suppose maybe they were confused and listed it as an LS when it is not?

I hope the TITLE doesn't have LS worked in if it isn't technically true.

I wouldn't worry about it. I bet they just listed it incorrectly.
