Outpulled cop 60 to 80!

Post by douglas vincent »

But I didn't know he was there!

So I was driving back hope from the late night drags at PIR and a mustang pulls up next to me and wants to do the 60-80 run thingy. So I try but my nitrous is a tad low after the evening of fun so its all hurky-jerky. But we get up and try again and I blast off, perfect, straight up to 80 and I notice the mustang is just where I left him, right at 60 mph. And there is a second pair of headlights in the far left lane (I am in the middle). I then make out the rooflights and just throw my hands in the air and let off the gas and coast back down to 60 waiting for the cop to signal for me to pull over. He slowly pulls up and just passes me and keeps on going. I was just staring in astonishment! I immediately turned off and took the long way home.

I couldn't believe it happend. Not only did I jamb on the gas and nitrous from 60 to 80 with him only about 50-100 feet behind us, I was obvously "racing" the mustang next to me.

I used up a few luck points tonight! I am going to consider this worth 5 times "getting pulled over but no ticket" That makes 25 pullovers in 13 years with no tickets. Christ I am one lucky son of a bitch!

I wonder if either he wasn't paying attention, working up the freeway after someone else, or the old sleeper wagon trick worked.

This is exactly what I meant by my comment of nitrous not always being there unlike a turbo when I said it here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... 3939#73939

I think maybe you misunderstood what I was saying and that's why the conversation kept going. I just wanted to clear that up but that's not the point of this. The point is that you are a lucky mofo. I dunno how he could not had wanted to pull you over, but hey, good thing he didnt :)

Lucky indeed.

The cop probably wasn't on the traffic beat. Traffic cops have high visibility but they aren't the only kind.

I remember the night after I got my Impreza. I was really happy about the kind of performance an EJ22 can achieve when in a 2700-pound car, so I was driving kind of spiritedly. When leaving one light at full throttle, I glimpsed an A-pillar-mounted spotlight flash on and off in my peripheral vision as I did the 2-3 shift. I saw the Crown Vic pull up onto the street I was on and pass me at a ridiculously fast speed while the cop came on the PA system and said, "Thank you very much." Shortly thereafter I saw that there was a house in a neighborhood nearby with a couple police cars in front with their red and blues on and this car just pulled in to join them.

I bet you'd have been nailed in a different car.

I remember I was trying to get to a car meet quickly and was doing 75 in a 55. I was in the middle lane, not doing anything stupid, but still going 20 over. Then I could see in my rearview two cruiser bikes enter the highway side-by-side. I knew immediately they were highway patrol, and I let off 100% sure I was going to get nailed hard. They passed me without even looking twice

I was going to dinner with my girlfriend and my best friend and was "having fun" with an 03 BMW 330i. Our turn came up (he was ahead of me, we stayed pegged in place, which impressed me, lol) and we slowed down. My buddy say a Red Taurus (Gen4, 2004) with lights on the dash. I made my turn behind the beamer, so did the cop. I made a left into the shopping center for dinner, the beamer went straight. Cop blatantly looked over at me, then went straight (presumably after the BMW).

*phew* That's the last "race" I'll be doing for a long time.
