Interesting information about fuel injectors..

Post by magnux »

I just sent in 2 sets of fuel injectors to RC Engineering. The first set was from a 1991 EJ22T, the other from a 1993 EJ22T. The injectors are identical. The fuel rails, however, were different (those from the 1993 were slightly longer).

I had read previously in numerous posts that the 1991 injectors were different from the 1993+. Apparently, this wasn't the case for me. RC Engineering confirmed this, too. Physically they are identical, and flow wise as well.

Just thought I'd share my findings. :)

*PS. If anyone is interested, I'm selling 3 balanced/blueprinted EJ22T injectors in the Parts Shed. ;)

What flow rates did you get out of them?

The non-turbo injectors were different between 90-91 and 92-94.

I thought I had read, and seen pictures (on this forum) of 90-91 turbo injectors, being the ball type. While the 92-94 were pintle type. The fuel rails were different, too (which I can confirm) -- and that in order to use 90-91 injectors, you would need the 90-91 fuel rails.

They all flowed the same, just a different design. I'm not arguing, just trying to figure out why I thought what I did. *shrug*

In any event, I hope these things are less of a PITA to put back on than they were to get off. But, knowing better, I'm sure they'll be twice as hard. If only I had smaller hands... ;)

:D

They should be easier to get in than they were to get out, especially since you have new o-rings on them. Lube up the rubber with some motor oil and push firmly but gently.
