Clutch fork shaft grease and main MT spline grease?

The manual says to use "FX2200" grease on the main shaft (spline) and SUNLIGHT2 on the clutch fork lever. Also wondering about Silicolube G-40M on the clutch master cylinder push rod.

I googled and can't find anything about this grease or where to buy it or what it is for a replacement. What grease should I use on the clutch fork shaft, MT spline and master cylinder push rod?

Again, 1991 Legacy Turbo 5MT.

I think a good synthetic grease would be good all around.

Call your local subie dealer and ask what they use

They were less than helpful. The master mechanic said, "We use the stuff in the clutch kits." Oh well. Bump?

I don't know if this'll help much, but:

FX2200 grease is Subaru part number 000040901.
SUNLIGHT2 is Subaru part number 003602010.
Silicolube G-40M is Subaru part number 004404003.

Yeah, the part numbers are non existant when I had a dealership parts monkey look them up. Oh well.

I think they could in theory order them anyway, although Subaru Japan might or might not fill the order.

Maybe contact a dealership that knows their stuff... Exeter Subaru, Folger Subaru, Gwinnett Subaru, etc.

Brian (North Ursalia) at Exeter said to use synthetic, thick, high temp bearing grease.

I'm worried because my friend just put red pennzoil wheel bearing grease in these spots and has a looud clutch creak. I'd rather not have that.

Well, I doubt the grease on the clutch master cylinder pushrod is that critical, so whatever good grease you have should be fine.

Is your friend's clutch creak coming from the clutch fork shaft? I thought clutch creak often came from the slave cylinder itself.

He didn't have clutch creak before the new clutch, so I think its either the clutch shaft (if he lubed that, which I don't think he did, he has a 99 Impreza RS so didn't need to touch the fork), or the throw out bearing itself creaking as it moves on the spline.

Now I have a nonturbo with the cable clutch, but when I put my new clutch fork and throwout bearing in, all I used was lithium grease. I haven't had any problems with it either, clutch is still light as a feather...

Hmm. I bought some Mobil1 Synthetic grease. Temp rated to 350 degrees.

While I was at Pep Boys, there was Valvoline grease and on the back it was talking about other products, like full-synth Valvoline grease, rated to 420 degrees and "race proven". I'm not sure. Anyone else have luck with Lithium grease?
