ECU - Legacy Turbo vs. WRX?

Post by FrmRgz2Rchz »

I've been reading through some old posts these past couple days and came upon the review of the autronics EMS. This sparked an interest in me, and I'm considering purchasing some such system. When searching for engine management, I came across two that I've heard of, Haltek and AEM. After looking at the applications for the plug-n-play AEM system, it said that they work on the 02-03 WRX. Now, finally my question, are the harness inputs/outputs different on the WRX ECU than ours? I know it's a longshot, but there are so many things that can interchange, I thought, why not?

They're definitely different. The biggest difference would probably be the ignition systems (ours is 2-channel, WRXs' are 4-channel).

I would think any standalone aftermarket ECU that is marketed for the WRX should be adaptable to the Legacy Turbo... Things aren't that different, and standalone ECUs are meant to handle a huge variety of engines anyway.
